History and Mental Health
During our lifetimes, there’s not a single moment that hasn’t had impact on our mental health. We’ve all seen wars, prejudice, hate, and many others. Anyone claiming to have never been effected by some act of violence, hate, prejudice, and other negatives is a liar. It’s been all around us for centuries and with more population than ever, there is even more to affect the depths of our thinking.

The biggest problems though, are how we deal with it and how it influences our lives. While we have a degree of control, very often these things will have a direct influence on our lives. Even though we really don’t want it, it’s there. We find ourselves worrying about these problems, endlessly. For some it will lead to worse problems such as through drinking alcohol excessively, drug addiction, eating disorders and many others. Between the stress and these situations, it very much becomes a problem not only of mental health, but even our physical health as well.

Everyone has bills to pay, most children to bring up, and many stresses that come with everyday life. A lot of it comes down to living up to others expectations. We have to go through this all to survive, and somehow we manage.

Though some have added problems that make them all the harder. They range from mood swings, panic attacks, violent outbursts, and sometimes even bring on hallucinations, delusions, and illusions. For those it can be a lot more difficult dealing with what may seem an unforeseen force that has control over their everyday lives. It indeed makes it harder for them to survive than everyone else.

If that’s not enough, we all also have to deal with distorted information that makes it even harder to deal with our own behaviors. After watching the news on TV at 11PM, we read the newspaper the next day and so on. The world is falling apart and was blown up totally 5 years ago now, and apparently we just haven’t realized it yet. If you pay deep enough attention to all the information it’s not impossible to come to this conclusion. It’s hard to deal with our problems better when we have the weight of the world on our shoulders. It makes it all much more complicated to deal with our own things in general.

While you might think since these people have to struggle harder than the rest, and deal with the extra load they carry on their shoulders, that society might be a bit more sympathizing. That’s not the case, rather society shuns them, pokes fun, mocks, and in the end just add additional issues to the mentally ill patient’s already weighted life. History shows a long trail of this, as the more it moves forward, the more it seems to move backwards. It often influences the behaviors that will be exaggerated on the news at 11.

It often starts at the top with self centered leaders, and many false teachings around the world. Often rather than looking for solutions, they quickly bring about harsh, cruel, and even ugly solutions so they can get back to what they think matters. With all this mishandling and misinformation, the world is definitely heading more towards destruction than recovery of society as a whole.

As a result, governments play a leading influence when they simply impose new laws indiscriminately. When they make events hateful they more or less impose hate on society as well. They launch new and improved chaotic events in response to chaotic events.

If you listen to them well, you will probably have the added effect of feeling everyone is out to get you. It’s hard to find solutions with good information, yet with information driven to a particular purpose, omitting many details, it’s near impossible. Those that know simply use what they need to their advantage. With the population of the world considered to instinctively out to get you, what choice do you have? This has happened everywhere on the globe at one time or another in history and in current times, nearly everywhere.

The mentally ill have to live with this too. Many mental problems lie in people suffering from history, genetics, legal system, and the rest of the whole social environment. In the middle of it all lays a hurt or maybe even devastated mind. They know more than anyone what is in there. More than ever are trying to speak too, and often they are pretty intelligent people. They usually have a message to pass onto others, but they aren’t heard.

They even have solutions to the problems they have, and a lot of clues to those that everyone has as well. Society as a whole has seen many things, and if it were all put on a table, many new ideas would form. If this happened, the mentally ill might have some of the best things to contribute that would bring about many ideas, unlike the rest though they are seldom heard. If asked, they may be able to help you visualize many things that you actually can identify with. Not just understand, but even see similar (though maybe lesser) examples in your own life.

If the thought occurs that you might be better than anyone with mental illness, then you are likely mistaken. Open your mind, eyes, and ears and listen better. You might too see where a lot of it comes from.
